Applying for a Research Degree (PhD & MRes)
The department welcomes PhD applicants interested in any area of Computer Science. Please apply formally. Details and the standard procedure for a formal application to the University are here. If your application is suitable, you will be invited for an interview (in person or by Skype) within two and a half months of your date of application.
Apart from applying formally, you may wish to look at our Research and People webpages to identify a suitable research topic (if you don’t have one already) and also a potential supervisor. You can contact your potential supervisor by email and discuss your proposal before applying.
Scholarship: information about university scholarship is here, and any department scholarship will be listed under the Vacancies.
Our department also offers the option of the one-year MSc by Research (MRes) degrees, whose dissertation requirements are less than what is asked of a doctorate. These can be taken in a number of areas, such as Ambient Assisted Living, Data Science, Computing and Engineering, and Visual Analytics. The application process is the same as for a PhD.
